Matt Steele


Owner/ Head Coach Matt Steele has been CrossFitting for an astounding ten years. Technically, his specialties are Olympic lifting and gymnastics, but you’ll probably know him more for his humor on the gym floor. "I love to make people laugh, and I love comedy," he says. "Nothing breaks the tension of a workout more than a good laugh! I love to entertain when I'm coaching."

Matt was into surfing and riding motorcycles when he was younger, and discovered CrossFit as an adult when a friend invited him to try it. "I barely survived!" he said. "It only took one workout and I was hooked. I had never seen such drastic physical changes happen so fast, but what I was really humbled by was the challenge CrossFit provided mentally."

When Matt isn’t at the gym, he stays active by hanging out with his girlfriend and his dog at the beach or on a bike ride. He’s also a big audio book listener and espresso drinker. "Having coffee and a book is always a nice way to unwind and get my mind refocused outside of CrossFit," he says.

Mallory Labarre


Coach Mallory LaBarre has been CrossFitting for four years, but her athletic career goes back way further than that. From age 5 to age 13, she was in gymnastics and dance every Saturday morning. In middle school, she participated in basketball, softball, field hockey, cheerleading, and running track. "I had a love for field hockey because my older cousins played and were part of a long tradition of excellent field hockey in my hometown," she says. Mallory received an athletic scholarship to play Division 1 field hockey at Indiana University, where she was a four-year starter and earned numerous athletic and academic awards.

Mallory is passionate about life and encouraging people to push beyond what they believe they are capable of. She loves to watch members achieve their goals, learn new skills and grow their confidence as they progress in their CrossFit journey.

When Mallory isn’t in the gym, she’s eating. "Call me a food connoisseur!" she says.
